The importance of repatriation

An investigation into the process of repatriation after the completion of an overseas assignment

Repatriation, the process of returning a person back to their place of origin or citizenship, after a successful relocation campaign abroad has been completed is not something which often gets due consideration.

Often when a CEO or Chief Executive informs somebody that they will be relocating abroad temporarily, the idea of then returning and what that might entail is largely forgotten about.

However, there could be numerous factors involved. For example, updating medical/dental records, handling postal issues and informing the HMRC that you have returned to the UK are all things which will require your attention.

Failing to address these fundamental issues could lead to some real headaches down the line. Executive relocation services can help with this process, ensuring that when you return to home shores you can fit back in to daily life as smoothly as possible.

New Zealand opportunities
One area in which you could end up, if your company considers the expansion/growth possibilities, is New Zealand.

The New Zealand Finance Minister Bill English recently made some rather bullish statements about the country’s economic future.

“Our financial system and our economy are both in better shape than a few years ago to manage global market uncertainties. This reflects improvements in market regulations and an economy that is growing,” stated English.

It is certainly a bullish statement from a country which has recently carried out a major reform of its tax system.

The new system is designed to discourage borrowing and consumption, tightening tax rules on property speculation generally.

Considering the economic problems which a number of countries and continents are experiencing around the world though, it is refreshing to hear such confident talk.

Perhaps New Zealand may be seen as a decent bet to search for growth, particularly when contrasted with the turmoil which is currently rife in the Euro-zone.
