Moving as an employee

As an employee, you will have to consider leaving your lifestyle behind and relocating to a different country. You may have a family and will need to consider their thoughts about the move. You will need to give yourself plenty of time to prepare for your new destination.

It may be advisable to visit the country before moving, in order to get a feel for the place and to help you get your bearings You might also want to consider going on a language course before departing, to help make the moving process easier.

Moving as an employer

From a business point of view, it would be advisable to get on the case of giving yourself and the company a sufficient amount of time to make the move. The process of moving will be time consuming, however, you may lose time and money if the right steps are not taken to prevent problems happening.

It may be ideal to start planning the move nine to 18 months before the final moving deadline.

As well as planning ahead, your business may have to consider the physical aspect of shipping or flying equipment overseas. It could be worth investigating if it would be cheaper to source new equipment in the country your business is relocating to.
