New research shows that Australia is the top destination for people looking to move overseas.

Figures from Post Office International Payments show that Australia, with its laidback lifestyle, enviable climate and good infrastructure is the ideal place to move to for the majority of people from the UK.

21 per cent of people say they would most like to live or work in Australia, followed by the United States of America (18 per cent) and Canada (14 per cent). Spain came in fourth place (10 per cent) and was also the highest placed country where English isn't the first language.

The Post Office research showed that 27 per cent of people have considered a move overseas, with a further 20 per cent saying they remain open to the idea. For the vast majority moving abroad offers excitement and opportunity. The survey shows that of those tempted by life overseas they are enticed by the improved quality of living, warmer climate, new culture, adventure and work life balance.

“Living and working overseas is a tempting thought, with many people considering a move abroad at some point,” said Sarah Munro from Post Office International Payments.

“However, taking the plunge is a big emotional and financial upheaval, and it isn't surprising that the worry of leaving family and friends is the main barrier.”

Relocation Services for Moving to Australia

For many people they only ever take the plunge and move abroad when the opportunity arises with work. Relocation within a corporate environment does present itself with numerous challenges to both employees and companies themselves.

Issues such as accommodation, flights, expenses and tax considerations need to be taken into consideration, not to mention other concerns such as shipping, schools (if you have children) and transportation.

It is also worth bearing in mind the emotional effects of moving abroad and the natural adjustment that fitting into a new location and culture will take time.

Many companies when tasked with employee relocation opt to use the services of experts, instead of trying to manage all of the administration of moving by themselves.
