New research shows that 27 per cent of CFOs would look to relocate abroad for a better quality of life.
Research from a recruitment specialist has revealed that over a quarter of all CFOs looking for a better quality of life would consider relocating abroad.
The figures from Robert Half UK found that the top financial cities that would attract CFOs would include New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, Chicago, Singapore, Geneva, Toronto and Zurich.
Post Office research has found that Australia was the top overseas destination for the majority of the population considering a move abroad.
21 per cent of people say they would most like to live or work in Australia, followed by the United States of America (18 per cent) and Canada (14 per cent). Spain came in fourth place (10 per cent).
However, one issue which probably does not get as much consideration as it should is the specific visa/immigration considerations of the country you’re heading to.
Relocation to Australia, for example, is a particularly complex and time consuming process which has to be considered in advance of any plans to move.
There is a migration process which usually takes between 6-8 months to complete. You will also have to pay an entry fee, which can be anywhere around £5,000. Your company are likely to take care of this as part of a relocation package, but it is important to be aware of such details.
Any application for relocation to Australia will be professionally assessed. The fact that you are walking straight into a job should be enough to prove your value to their society.
An additional 15 per cent surveyed by Robert Half have said that they would look to relocate abroad in order to achieve a better quality of life for their children.
A survey by BritishExpats.com has found that as many as 80 per cent of all expats abroad believe their children are better off living abroad.
Additionally the survey found that 85 per cent of those who have relocated abroad hope to continue living abroad for the near future.
