Research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development shows that more employers intend recruiting from overseas.
25 per cent of all organisation surveyed by the Institute this summer revealed that they intend recruiting workers from abroad in the next quarter. This figure is up from 22 per cent when a similar survey was run earlier in the year.
Many UK companies are forced to recruit from abroad because of a lack of highly skilled talent in the UK, particularly in industries such as engineering, IT and healthcare.
“...the first resort for employers is simply to look towards the likes of Ireland, Spain and other countries with high levels of unemployment to fill some of these roles,” CIPD public policy adviser Gerwyn Davies told People Management.
