A guide to why Australia might be set to reap the benefits of global economic uncertainty, with a host of people hoping to relocate to the country.
A leading economic analyst has suggested that the current problems which are plaguing the Euro-zone and United States could lead to a complete shakeup of the international labour market.....with Australia well placed to benefit.
Sinclair Davidson, an RMIT economist, has suggested there could be a major influx of migrant workers to Australia from areas who have suffered as a result of the global financial crisis.
Skilled workers from countries such as Spain, Ireland, Greece, Italy and North America could be set to relocate to Australia in a bid to find an appropriate stage for their talents.
“We will see the internationalisation of the labour market,” says Davidson. “We might see demand for Australia as a relocation venue.”
Bernard Salt, a KPMG demographer, concurs with this line of thinking. He suggests that Australia might need to prepare for a frenzy of activity in the near future.
“The young and talented who see the writing on the wall will see themselves as global citizens and see Australia as a good place for a five year stint. The issue for them is that they will put down roots and form relationships and end up staying, so we (Australians) could find ourselves benefitting from the collapse of Europe.”
It is a fascinating prediction, and one which could have a seismic impact on world trade.
Of course, the relocation of staff to a foreign environment, such as Australia, can be a daunting prospect, both for you as a CEO or company director, and the employees involved.
There is a multitude of things to consider and people can become understandably overwhelmed by the whole process.
Relocation agents can help you with a variety of these issues. Schools are an obvious concern for anybody who is relocating with a young family.
By hiring a relocation service to look into issues such as good local schools, you could be removing a major load from the minds of those involved.
